About Golden Health Science

Nobody Should Be Left Behind

The story behind a site built to make reliable health science understandable, and free to read.

First published January 2026 · Last updated August 2026 · Last reviewed August 2026

Every year, millions of people develop conditions whose risk could have been reduced.

The reasons are many. Poverty. Distance from care. Unsafe work. Polluted air. Health systems under strain. And plain bad luck.

But one reason runs through nearly all of them.

Picture a well full of clean water, and a village that is thirsty. The water is there. Nobody is keeping it back. What is missing is a bucket.

That is health science. What we know is rarely carried to people in words they can understand and use.

That is the part Golden Health Science was built to work on.

The Founder

Ikechukwu Raymond, founder of Golden Health Science
Founder, Writer, and Editor

Ikechukwu Raymond

A writer who built this platform to explain reliable health science in plain language: simply, honestly, and free to read. He is not a medical doctor.

I grew up in Nigeria.

I come from a place where good healthcare was never guaranteed for everyone. Where people got seriously ill from conditions that might have been eased. Clearer information would have helped. So would better access to care.

Where the gap between what science knew and what ordinary people understood was enormous. And painful.

I watched people in my community struggle with their health. They cared. Nobody had ever explained it to them in plain language, in words they could understand and act on.

That stayed with me for years. It became a question I could not put down.

What if the best health science in the world were genuinely available to every single person? Out of the journals that charge to read them. Out of the language written for doctors. Past the paywalls and the advertisements.

What if it were written simply, honestly, and freely? For every person. Everywhere.

I carried that question through years of reading and work. It only grew stronger. Study after study made one thing clearer. Much of what could have helped the people I knew was already known.

It simply was not reaching them in a form they could use.

So I made a decision.

I would build a site that took reliable health science and put it in plain words. Clear enough for someone with no medical training, without bending what the science actually says.

That decision became Golden Health Science.

Much of what could have helped the people I knew was already known. It simply was not reaching them.

Who This Site Is Written For

This site is for real people, in every corner of the world.

Rural Nigeria

A woman with no doctor nearby. But she has a phone, and a question about why she is always tired.

London

A man with access to everything. But no time to wade through the language it comes wrapped in.

India

A student who simply wants to understand what is happening inside her own body.

Brazil

A father who wants to protect his family. But he does not know where to start.

The Philippines

A grandmother told she has high blood pressure. But nobody has explained what that actually means.

Helsinki

A man with good doctors and good care. But still no plain answer to the small question that has quietly worried him for months.

It is written for anyone who deserves honest health information and has never been given it plainly.

If that is you, this site is yours.

How the Work Gets Done

I write and check the health content on this site myself. A small team helps with the design, the images, and the technical side, so the science looks as clear as it reads.

Every article is built slowly. Nothing is rushed out to fill a page. Nothing is copied from somewhere else. Here is what that means in practice.

Read

Hours of it, before a word is written

I go back to the studies that first opened up the field, then forward to the newest research. Most of it is peer reviewed, which means other experts assessed the methods before publication. That check improves quality. It does not make a study right.

Weigh

Against bodies that have to be right

I lean on the World Health Organization, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the leading medical journals, and research groups in each field. Where the evidence is uncertain or researchers disagree, I say so.

Write

Slowly, and out loud

I read every sentence aloud before I keep it. Too hard a word gets swapped. Too long a sentence gets cut. A medical term gets explained the moment it appears, and every comparison comes from ordinary life so anyone can picture it.

Check

Facts back to their sources

Facts are matched against the sources again and links are tested. Every article carries the date it was last checked, so you know how current it is. This step has caught real errors in work I had already published.

Correct

In public, with the date

It will not catch everything. When a mistake gets through, the fix and the date go in the correction log, where anybody can read them.

It is slow work. I do it this way for one reason. Anything less would fail the people this site was built to serve.

What Golden Health Science Believes

Belief One

Health is shaped, not simply inherited.

Genes, circumstances, access to care and chance all shape your health, and none of them are chosen. Daily habits matter too, and they are the part most open to change. They shift the odds. They do not settle them. And it is rarely too late to shift them.

Belief Two

Hard science can be explained simply.

Hard science can be made clear without bending the truth. It just takes more care, more thought, and more time. That time goes into every article.

Belief Three

This knowledge belongs to everyone.

Health information this important should not be only for people who can afford good doctors, or who got to go to university. The aim is to reach as many people as possible, wherever they live and whatever they earn.

Belief Four

Independence comes before income.

Payment never decides what the science says here. There is no paywall. If advertising, affiliate links or sponsorship are ever introduced, they will be clearly disclosed and kept away from editorial decisions.

The Standard Every Article Is Written To

Before any article is published here, it has to answer two questions.

Can someone with no medical training follow it?
And
Does it stay true to what the evidence actually shows?

The same idea, written both ways

Rather than take my word for it, here is one paragraph from the insulin resistance article. Both versions are on this site. Both say the same thing.

In plain words

Somebody is talking to you across a noisy room. You do not react, so they say it again, louder. Then louder still. The information gets through every time. What nobody watching can see is how much harder they are working to deliver it. That is what happens here. Your cells respond less to insulin, so your body sends more insulin, and the job still gets done. From the outside, nothing has changed at all.

In the language of the field

Insulin acts through a receptor tyrosine kinase, signaling via IRS proteins and PI3-kinase to Akt, which drives translocation of the GLUT4 glucose transporter to the membrane in muscle and adipose tissue and suppresses hepatic glucose production. In insulin resistance that signaling is attenuated proximally, most convincingly through intracellular lipid intermediates: diacylglycerol activating protein kinase C theta in myocytes and protein kinase C epsilon in hepatocytes. Pancreatic beta cells respond with compensatory hyperinsulinemia, and euglycemia is maintained for as long as that compensation holds.

The second one is not wrong. It is what the field sounds like, and it is on the page too, for anyone who wants it. The first one is the reason this site exists.

Both tests have to hold at once, and holding both is the hard part. It is easy to write simply by leaving out the parts that complicate the picture. It is easy to be accurate by writing only for people who already understand the language.

Staying true to the evidence means saying “linked to” when a study shows a link. Cause needs stronger proof. It means naming what is still uncertain. It means not making something sound simpler than it is.

That is the standard the writing aims at. It is also the standard I correct against when I fall short, and I do fall short.

When I fall short, the fix and the date go in the correction log. You can read exactly how articles are researched and checked in How We Review Health Content.

What I Am Working Toward

I do not know your name. I do not know which country you are reading this from. I do not know what brought you here today.

But I know this. You deserve the same quality of health information as anyone else on earth. The same science that sits in journals most people never see.

Explained with the same care someone would take if they were explaining it to you in person.

That is what this site is for, and it costs you nothing.

I will not always get it right. What I can promise is that I will keep checking, keep correcting, and keep showing my sources so you can check for yourself.
